Tripp Segars takes pride in helping others obtain justice in cases against powerful corporations. He is a people person who serves others and believes in his clients' right to tell their side of the story. In his first case, he helped the Kelly family in their pursuit of justice, and the jury awarded the family nearly $4.7 million.
Mr. Segars practices primarily in the areas of personal injury, mass torts, products liability and bad faith insurance. He currently represents individuals who have been wrongfully denied coverage by their insurance companies, have suffered injuries and financial loss resulting from the 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, or those who have been injured by pharmaceutical drug products. In October of 2013, Judge Anthony Battaglia appointed Mr. Segars to the Plaintiff's' Steering Committee in MDL 2452 - Incretin Mimetics Products Liability Litigation. Mr. Segars will spearhead litigation involving Byetta, Januvia, Janumet and Victoza, which are type 2 diabetes drugs that have been linked to pancreatic cancer.
Mr. Segars is originally from South Carolina, where he received his undergraduate degree in marketing from Clemson University. Before joining the Diaz Law Firm, he earned his law degree from Mississippi College. During law school, Mr. Segars served as a summer intern for the Honorable Jess H. Dickinson of the Mississippi Supreme Court, as a legislative intern for the Mississippi Association for Justice and as a law clerk with the Diaz Law Firm. He also traveled to Wyoming to serve as an intern for the Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College.
In addition to his work at the Diaz Law Firm, Mr. Segars remains active in both his local community and the legal community. He currently serves on the board of the Phoenix Club of Jackson, an association benefiting the Boys and Girls Club of Central Mississippi, and he also serves as president of the Magnolia Clemson Club. Mr. Segars has been a guest attorney on WLBT’s LawCall, a live television program in which attorneys assist callers with legal questions, and he is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association, the American Association for Justice and the Mississippi Association for Justice, where he serves on the Legislative Committee and the association’s Board of Governors.
